Social Action Minister: First Lady’s Advocacy for Social Action is Powerful Tool for its Advancement
On 21 January, the Minister of Social Action, Childhood and the Family, Ms. Naha Mint Haroun Ould Cheikh Sidiya, explained that the societal program of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, pays great attention to vulnerable groups of society, noting that this is reflected in the pioneering and non-leading axes included in this program Preceded for the benefit of the vulnerable groups and the tireless pursuit of empowerment for them, a vision that is an embodiment in the field through the general policy of the government of the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal.
In a speech during the launching ceremony of the program to support the promotion of social protection and the empowerment of vulnerable segments in the state of Tiris Zemmour, she added that the gains made in the first half of the first mandate of the President of the Republic in various social fields responded to most of the urgent demands of the vulnerable groups of society.
She said that the program that was launched today comes within a course of humanitarian and social work launched by the First Lady, Dr. Mariem Fadel Dah, which included sponsoring and caring for children with disabilities and autism children who have suffered from neglect for decades, noting that the First Lady’s advocacy for social work constituted a powerful tool o advance it.
She pointed out that the government was able, during the past two years, to fulfill the most important pledges of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, of a social nature, noting in this context the construction of the National School for Social action, in which 200 students are currently attending employees from various wires of social action, and Doubling the rate of access to pre-school education, from 10% in 2019 to 20% in 2021, and this rate will double after the subscription and transfer of 150 educators to the internal states, the opening of new kindergartens and the start of work on the construction of 50 kindergartens in the various provinces of the country.
She also stated that among the achievements in the field of social action, 2000 persons with disabilities obtained health insurance for themselves and their families, and financial aid was given to needy patients monthly, and its value was doubled more than three times, in addition to doubling the number of multi-disabled children benefiting from remittances, where they have now reached more than 500 children.
The Minister of Social Action, Childhood and the Family indicated that, for the first time, children with disabilities at home were able to access education and training services through the opening of four centers in the states of Nouadhibou, Brakna, Hodh Charghi
and Tiris Zemmour, noting that they receive their free specialized education in these centers with the benefit of a monthly scholarship.
Finally, she praised the various initiatives undertaken by non-governmental organizations, most notably the Zayed Center for Autistic Children, which is considered a pioneering experience in the field of caring for autistic children.
