Foreign Minister Holds Talks with UN Secretary-General

Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, met on Monday in New York with H.E. Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During this meeting, both parties examined various issues related to strengthening cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the United Nations, as well as ways to develop it, while emphasizing the important role played by the Organization in achieving the goals of the international community.

The two parties also exchanged views on a number of current issues and challenges facing various countries around the world, as well as topics of mutual interest.
