The Spanish national team was crowned champion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final match held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA, on Sunday evening.
Spain dominated the match, controlling possession and creating numerous chances, while Argentina relied on a defensive block, resulting in a scoreless draw at the end of regulation time.
It took “La Roja” until the 106th minute of the second half of extra time to settle the match, when Ferran Torres scored the game’s only goal following a well-executed attack inside the penalty area.
With this victory, Spain claimed the World Cup title for the second time in its history—following its first victory at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa—adding yet another achievement to its soccer legacy.
