On July 14 in Nouakchott, Ms. Fatimetou Mint Khattri, Commissioner for Food Security, received Mr. Claude Javel, Resident Representative of the World Food Program (WFP) in Mauritania.
The meeting focused on reviewing the longstanding cooperation between Mauritania and the WFP and exploring avenues to further strengthen the partnership, particularly in the areas of food security, support for vulnerable communities, and building resilience among populations most affected by food insecurity.
During the discussions, Mr. Javel reaffirmed the WFP’s commitment to deepening its collaboration with Mauritania. He highlighted the importance of the partnership between the WFP and the Food Security Commission in addressing food insecurity and improving the resilience of vulnerable populations.
The WFP representative also expressed his readiness to expand and enhance joint efforts to achieve shared goals and deliver greater impact for communities in need.
