
His Excellency Mr Romuald Wadagny, President of the Republic of Benin, arrived in Nouakchott this morning, Monday, at the start of a one-day working visit to Mauritania.
His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, led the delegation welcoming the Beninese President at the aircraft steps at Nouakchott International Airport (Oum Al-Tounsi), flanked by the Prime Minister, Mr. El Moctar Ould Djay, the Minister in charge of the Office of the President, Mr Nani Ould Chrougha, the Commander of the President’s Personal Staff, the Governor of West Nouakchott and the President of the Nouakchott Region.
After the national anthems were played and a guard of honour was presented, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Benin shook hands with the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency, the Minister-Advisers to the Presidency, members of the Government, the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces and Security Forces, senior state officials, the President of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, and members of the African diplomatic corps accredited to Mauritania.
In turn, His Excellency the President of the Republic shook hands with members of the delegation accompanying the President of the Republic of Benin.
Following the reception ceremony, the two Presidents held private bilateral talks in the VIP lounge of the airport’s VIP hall.
This visit forms part of the two countries’ commitment to consolidating relations of friendship and cooperation, strengthening joint coordination to address challenges related to development and security, and supporting regional integration efforts in the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
The President of the Republic of Benin is accompanied on this visit by a high-level delegation including the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms Corinne Amory-Brinet.
