The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received a delegation from the Republic of Guinea-Bissau at the Presidential Palace on Thursday. The delegation was led by Her Excellency the Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities, Ms. Fatumata Jau.
Following the meeting, Her Excellency the Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau told the Mauritanian News Agency that she had the honor of being received by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. She added that, during her current visit, she had held a series of discussions with His Excellency the Minister for Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, as well as with several members of the Government, including the Ministers for Trade, Fisheries, Health and Higher Education. She also met with representatives of the private sector, particularly the Chamber of Commerce.
She explained that these meetings had reinforced her conviction that Guinea-Bissau and Mauritania possess complementary economies and significant potential that could help accelerate development in both countries.
She added that the discussions identified promising areas for cooperation, particularly in agriculture, fisheries and the blue economy, trade, and health, while emphasizing the importance of promoting private investment and strengthening the role of the private sector in economic cooperation between the two countries.
She emphasized that, alongside their shared interest in expanding economic cooperation, both sides had reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening consultation and coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The Minister stated that her country aspires to elevate bilateral relations to new heights and to translate the distinguished political ties between the two countries into concrete projects and partnerships that have a direct and positive impact on the lives of the two brotherly peoples.
She expressed her sincere thanks and gratitude to the Mauritanian authorities for their warm welcome and generous hospitality, while welcoming the shared commitment to ushering in a new phase of fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
