On June 23 in Vienna, Austria, Dr. Abdallahi Ould Souleymane Ould Cheikh Sidiya, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, signed two financing agreements with Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the OPEC Fund for International Development, with a total value of US$195 million. The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the OPEC Fund Development Forum.
The first agreement establishes a Country Partnership Framework for the 2026–2029 period, with funding of up to US$180 million. It will focus directly on developing climate-resilient infrastructure projects, strengthening the food-security system, and supporting and developing rural value chains.
The second agreement provides a US$15 million loan to strengthen social-protection networks for the most vulnerable groups and support the targeted population through the “Social Safety Nets Program.”
