In Washington: Minister of Economic Affairs Presents Mauritania’s Experience in Consolidating Peace and Social Cohesion

Washington

Mauritania’s experience in promoting stability was the focus of a specialized panel discussion held yesterday, Tuesday, in Washington on the sidelines of the Fragility 2026 Forum, where His Excellency the Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Mr. Abdallahi Ould Souleiman Ould Cheikh Sidiya, gave a comprehensive presentation on the motivations and background behind the development of the “National Strategy for Consolidating Peace and Social Cohesion” for the period 2025–2030.

In his presentation, His Excellency the Minister noted that these forward-looking steps and ambitious plans represent explicit international recognition of the insightful strategic vision of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, which reflects his unwavering commitment to achieving peace, establishing stability, and advancing comprehensive development, the guiding compass for government action and performance.

The Minister added in his presentation that our country’s vision is not limited to security aspects alone, but views prevention from a comprehensive developmental and humanitarian perspective.

This approach is embodied in the launch and implementation of ambitious and wide-ranging social and development programs, foremost among which are the pioneering programs and projects overseen by the government of His Excellency Prime Minister El Mokhtar Ould Diay through the General Delegation for the Fight Against Exclusion “Taazur,” in addition to the “Takaful” program. These direct government interventions have succeeded in strengthening the values of national solidarity and expanding social safety nets to protect the most vulnerable and lowest-income groups throughout the country.
