Trade Minister Discusses with the EU Ambassador Ways to Strengthen Cooperation in the Fields of Trade, Tourism and Food Safety

On 14 May in Nouakchott,  the Minister of Trade and Tourism, Ms Zeinebou bint H’mednah, received the European Union Ambassador to Mauritania, Mr Jokin Tasso Villalonga, accompanied by a team of European experts specialising in food safety, health and quality, as well as the President of the National Authority for Radiation Protection, Nuclear Safety and Security, Mr Ishaq Ould Mohamed Moussa, who is responsible for coordinating with the committee of experts.

 

During the meeting, the parties reviewed cooperation relations between Mauritania and the European Union, the country’s leading trading partner, and discussed ways to strengthen this cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly in the fields of trade, investment and tourism.

During the meeting, the EU Ambassador praised the economic dynamism witnessed in Mauritania, emphasising the European Union’s readiness to support development efforts and to strengthen cooperation in the areas of trade facilitation, the development of tourism infrastructure, and the training of national talent.
