Agriculture Minister Receives South African Ambassador

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Mr. Mohamedou Ahmedou Mhaimid, received on Monday in his office in Nouakchott His Excellency Mr. Pakamisa Augustine Sifuba, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa accredited to Mauritania.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen partnership in the fields of agricultural research and the exchange of expertise, benefiting from South Africa’s experience in developing production and improving agricultural performance.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the strategic orientations of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, aimed at achieving food self-sufficiency. He highlighted the progress made in rice and vegetable cultivation, and emphasized Mauritania’s aspiration to develop wheat farming by expanding areas of cooperation with South Africa.
