Prime Minister Opens 12th Session of Regional Marine and Coastal Forum

Today, Monday, at the “Mokhtar Ould Daddah” Conference Center in Nouakchott, Prime Minister Mr. Moctar Ould Diay presided over the launch of the 12th edition of the Regional Marine and Coastal Forum. The event is organized by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development in cooperation with the Regional Partnership for Coastal and Marine Conservation in West Africa (PRCM).

The forum, held from April 27 to 30, 2026, is themed “Ocean Health: A Lever for a Renewed Blue Economy.” It serves as a high-level platform bringing together policymakers, experts, civil society representatives, and technical and financial partners to exchange knowledge, review best practices, and strengthen regional cooperation in coastal and marine protection.

Mauritania’s hosting of this conference reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection and the conservation of marine and coastal biodiversity, while supporting collective efforts to address the environmental and developmental challenges facing the region.
