Minister of Livestock Holds Meeting with His Algerian Counterpart

The Minister of Livestock, Mr. Sidi Ahmed Ould Mohamed, held a meeting with his Algerian counterpart, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Mr. Yacine El Mahdi Walid, on the sidelines of the 20th session of the Mauritanian – Algeria, held in the Algerian capital from April 6 to 7, 2026.

This meeting comes in the context of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries and exploring new prospects for strategic partnership in the fields of agriculture and animal development.

Discussions focused on ways to develop cooperation in the agricultural and livestock sectors, particularly in the areas of locust control and the promotion of trade in livestock and agricultural products, as well as efforts to harmonize international veterinary health certificates.

The meeting also addressed opportunities for exporting Mauritanian livestock, particularly sheep, to the Algerian market, as well as exploring possibilities for supporting veterinary vaccination campaigns and other areas of cooperation of mutual interest.
