Interior Minister Meets With Algerian Counterpart

On 7 April in Algiers, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lemine, the Minister of Interior, Decentralization, and Local Development, held a working meeting with Mr. Said Sayoud, the Algerian Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, on the occasion of the 20th session of the Mauritanian-Algerian Joint High Commission on Cooperation.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of security, notably the security challenges facing the region, particularly regarding organized and cross-border crime, as well as the issue of illegal immigration, in the context of current regional changes.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the importance of developing border areas by fostering economic and social momentum that promotes stability among local populations and supports exchanges between the two countries, thereby helping to strengthen security and stability.

The meeting also highlighted the need to broaden opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of experiences, and to continuously strengthen coordination and communication, to ensure effective follow-up on various issues of common interest and to reflect the depth of Mauritanian-Algerian relations and the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
