Economic Affairs Minister Meets With Head of EU Delegation

On 7 April in Nouakchott, Mr. Abdallahi Souleimane Cheikh Sidiya, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, met with H.E. Mr. Joaquín Tasso Villalonga, Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Mauritania, to deepen bilateral economic cooperation.

The meeting addressed the implementation of EU-funded development projects in Mauritania and explored ways to expedite progress toward their objectives.

The two sides also discussed mechanisms to support the national strategy for accelerated growth and shared prosperity, as well as the central role played by European partners in supporting the structural reforms led by the Mauritanian government.

During the discussions, the two sides also reviewed the strong partnership between Mauritania and the EU. They explored ways to align the EU’s development interventions with Mauritania’s current national priorities and discussed mechanisms to strengthen the EU’s commitment to supporting Mauritania’s efforts toward sustainable and inclusive development.
