Minister of Economic Affairs receives Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Mr. Abdallahi Souleymane Cheikh Sidiya, received Yesterday, Sunday, at his office in Nouakchott, the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, Mr. Claver Gatete, as part of his official visit to Mauritania from 31 January to 4 February 2026.

The meeting addressed cooperation relations between Mauritania and this international institution, as well as ways to strengthen partnership in economic and development areas.

The meeting was attended by the Economic Adviser, the acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Development, Mr. Moustapha Sidi Mohamed, the Mauritanian Ambassador to Ethiopia, His Excellency Mr. El Houcein Ould El Naji, the Director of Development Policies and Strategies at the Ministry, as well as a number of aides to the UN Assistant Secretary-General.
