President of the Citizenship and Justice Front Party: The Outcomes of the Dialogue Must Strengthen Democracy, Governance, National Unity, and Address Grievances

Nouakchott

The President of the Citizenship and Justice Front Party, Mr. Mohamed Jemil Mansour, affirmed that the national public opinion may have begun to feel a certain level of fatigue due to the delay in launching the national dialogue, pointing out that the invitation by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to the political spectrum, equally representing both the majority and the opposition, was a clear indication of the necessity to start this dialogue. He added, in an interview conducted by the Mauritanian News Agency, that the dialogue, which is of utmost importance, must address key national issues, particularly those related to national unity, institutional and political reform, and administrative and economic governance, emphasizing the need for these topics to be prominently and strongly present in the dialogue.

He said that he hopes that both the majority and the opposition will assist the National Dialogue Coordinator, Mr. Moussa Fall, in starting the practical preparations for launching the National Dialogue, which the public eagerly anticipates to discuss sensitive national issues. He also hopes that the elite participating in it will be constructive and reach conclusions that strengthen national unity and address existing grievances and problems in the country.

He added that the outcomes of the dialogue should contribute to improving the democratic process, whether concerning elections, the electoral system, or the laws governing them, and should develop administrative and economic governance, enabling the country to benefit from its resources, enhance its development, improve its economy, and combat manifestations of social and economic corruption.

The head of the Citizenship and Justice Front party said that the coordinator of the national dialogue made great efforts in discussions with a wide range of Mauritanians, including parties, entities, organizations, and individuals, and was able to reach conclusions that reflect everyone’s opinions, noting that the preparatory phase of the dialogue can be evaluated positively. He pointed out the existence of some shortcomings and observations, but he emphasized that the efforts made and the preparations carried out enabled reaching general outcomes that reflect the views of the different parties, forming a good prelude to the next phase of the dialogue.
