On January 21, Mr. Abdallahi Ould Souleymane Ould Cheikh Sidiya, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, traveled from Nouakchott to New York for meetings of the UN Peacebuilding Commission.
The minister will brief the commission, which will meet on January 22 and 23, on Mauritania’s experience in consolidating stability and security, considered two fundamental pillars of sustainable development.
This visit is part of the adoption of the national strategy for promoting peace and social cohesion, approved on December 31, 2025, which constitutes a roadmap aimed at strengthening the social fabric, improving the business climate, and making the country more attractive for investment.
Mr. Ould Cheikh Sidiya will meet with World Bank officials and development partners to mobilize the necessary funding to implement this strategy and to examine structural reforms that can ensure effective use of resources in basic development projects.
