Arab countries held their first cybersecurity exercise on 22 November in Doha, in partnership with the Qatari National Cybersecurity Agency and the General Secretariat of the Arab Cybersecurity Council of Ministers.
In this regard, Dr Brahim bin Saleh Al Vouraih, Secretary General of the Arab Cybersecurity Council of Ministers, congratulated the National Cybersecurity Agency of the State of Qatar on the success of the 12th edition of the national cybersecurity exercise, as well as on its successful hosting of the first Arab cybersecurity exercise.
Dr. Al Vouraih added that “the cybersecurity exercise is being implemented in accordance with the decisions of the Arab Cybersecurity Council of Ministers aimed at strengthening joint Arab cooperation in cybersecurity and raising the level of cyber preparedness of Arab countries in the face of renewed cyber threats,” emphasizing that “this exercise confirms Arab integration toward protecting the Arab cyberspace and the continued development of cyber incident response capabilities, in addition to building effective mechanisms for coordination and exchange of experiences between our brotherly countries.”
It is noteworthy that the cybersecurity exercise aims to develop the capabilities of cybersecurity specialists in Arab countries through an advanced virtual simulation environment that allows specialists to deal with several varied scenarios of cyberattacks and risks.
The exercise includes a technical component focused on the technical aspects of confronting, analyzing, and responding to cyber attacks, as well as an administrative component focused on cyber crisis management, strategic decision-making, and establishing procedures and policies in the event of a cyber breach, through coordination of roles and communication between different entities to ensure an effective response and strengthen cyber resilience.
