The 7th Summit between the African Union and the European Union commenced on 24 November in Luanda, with His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, in attendance alongside several African and European heads of state.
The summit, organized under the theme “Strengthening Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateral Cooperation,” will address four main areas: peace and security, economic integration and trade, green and digital transitions, and migration and human development issues, which are considered essential pillars of cooperation between the two continents.
Mauritania’s participation is part of its efforts to strengthen its international presence and develop its partnerships with the African and European Unions, particularly in the areas of security, energy, green transition, and investment, in line with its current strategic priorities.
