Nouakchott, November 3, 2025 (AMI) – The Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Mr. Abdallahi Ould Souleymane Ould Cheikh Sidiya, received on Monday in Nouakchott the head of the European Union mission in Mauritania, Mr. Tasso Vilallonga, in an audience. This meeting was an opportunity to review the strategic partnership that unites our country and the European Union, and to discuss ways to strengthen and deepen it, in line with Mauritania’s development priorities.
Our country is a key partner of the European Union in the Sahel region. This partnership covers several areas, notably economic and development support, which is expressed through budgetary assistance to the state and the financing of development projects, such as digital infrastructure, energy transition, education, health, food security, and the development of road infrastructure.
Security and migration management issues also constitute an area of close cooperation aimed at strengthening security and stability in the region and addressing common challenges, including the management of migratory flows.The interview took place in the presence of the minister’s secretary-general, Mr. Yacoub Ould Ahmed Aïcha, and Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Nani, Director General of Financing and Economic Cooperation
