Human Rights Commissioner Receives Human Rights Watch Representative

On 27 October, in Nouakchott, Mr. Sid’Ahmed Ould Bennane, Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action, and Relations with Civil Society, received Ms. Lauren Seibert, representative of Human Rights Watch.

Ms. Seibert is visiting our country as part of her mission to monitor migration and human rights issues in the region.

The meeting addressed a range of issues related to the organization’s recently published report, particularly regarding the situation of migrants and their rights in Mauritania.

The Human Rights Commissioner provided comprehensive clarification on the national migration policy, which is based on the principles of humanity, strict compliance with the law, and international cooperation.
