Minister of Culture inaugurates the First Nouakchott International Book Fair

The Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mr. El Houssein Ould Meddou, presided on Monday evening at the Palais des Congrès (Mokhtar Ould Daddah) in Nouakchott over the launch of the first edition of the Nouakchott International Book Fair.

The organization of this first edition is the culmination of a long cultural journey experienced by Mauritania, which has throughout its history served as a solid bridge for cultural communication between the two shores of the Arab world and sub-Saharan Africa.

The organizers also aim to make Nouakchott a hub for thinkers, creators, and publishers, as well as a center for Arab and African cultural dialogue, which will help renew the cultural discourse and strengthen human values.

Eighty-two national and international publishing houses are participating in the fair, which lasts seven days.The minister and the delegation accompanying him visited the various stands at the fair, where they received detailed information about the books and services offered by the publishing houses.
