Human Rights Commissioner returns to Nouakchott

The Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Work, and Relations with Civil Society, Mr. Sidi Ahmed Ould Bennane, returned to Nouakchott early this Friday morning, coming from Geneva, after participating in the 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

This important participation culminated in the election of our country’s candidate, Judge Moulaye Abdallah Ould Moulaye Abdallah, as a member of the United Nations Committee Against Torture, for the first time, marking a significant national achievement that reflects international recognition of the pioneering steps taken by our country in the promotion and protection of human rights, embodying the high directives of His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Sheikh El-Ghazouani.

Accompanying the Commissioner during this visit was a high-level delegation including Mr. Harouna Traore, Special Adviser at the Presidency, and Mr. Sidi Mohamed Ould El Imam, Director of Human Rights at the Commission.
