On the Sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs participates in a Meeting of the Committee of Heads of States and Governments of Africa CDC.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, participated today, Monday, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, in a meeting of the Committee of Heads of State and Government ‘CDC Africa’ under the title: Ensuring Health Sovereignty in Africa.The meeting, which was held at the level of the Permanent Missions of the African Union to the United Nations, was chaired by the Angolan President, His Excellency Mr. João Lourenço, the rotating president of the African Union.During the meeting, the Minister conveyed the greetings of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and his wishes for their work to be successful and fruitful.The meeting provided an opportunity to assess the steps taken by the center since its establishment in 2017 and to discuss activating the African Health Fund to respond to disasters.
The attendees decided to prepare an action plan that allows for the production of Africa’s pharmaceutical needs by around 2040.They also praised the coordination of African responses to pandemics and the activation of CDC Africa’s operations.The attendees expressed gratitude to the World Health Organization and the Gavi program.The meeting was attended by the Minister and the following:The Ambassador of Mauritania to New York, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Laghdaf.The Ambassador, Director of Communication and Media at the ministry, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed El-Douh.The Ambassador, Director of Protocol, Mr. Mohamed Diop.The advisor at the embassy, Mr. Mohamed Abdullah Ali.
