Paris

The Minister of Mines and Industry, Mr. Tidjane Thiam, participated on Tuesday in the 8th edition of the Mining in Africa Summit, held at La Défense in Paris, France, which brings together leading actors and decision-makers in the mineral sector on the African continent.

In his opening remarks at the Ministerial Roundtable, the Minister highlighted the political and security stability that Mauritania enjoys as a fundamental pillar of any sustainable development path.

He highlighted the country’s vast mineral wealth, as well as the attractive and qualitative legal framework that frames investments in the mineral sector, enhancing investor confidence and ensuring transparency of transactions.

The Minister pointed to the availability of advanced port infrastructure in both Nouakchott and Nouadhibou, capable of receiving ships of large sizes, which is a supportive element for the flow of mineral exports and the competitiveness of the sector.

At the end of his speech, the Minister announced the organization of the Mauritanide Forum in Nouakchott from September 8 to 11, 2025, inviting investors, partners and industry players to participate in this landmark event, which is a strategic platform to introduce investment and cooperation opportunities in the mineral field in Mauritania.
