Prime Minister Receives Senegalese Foreign Minister

On 2 June, in Nouakchott, the Prime Minister, Mr. El Moctar Ould Djay, received Ms. Yacine Fall, the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal.

The talks focused on cooperative relations between the two brotherly countries and ways of strengthening them.

In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency at the end of the meeting, the Senegalese minister thanked the Prime Minister for the warm welcome he extended to her and her Mauritanian counterpart. She praised the considerable efforts made to ensure the success of her mission.

She briefed the Prime Minister on preparations for the signing of the two agreements on irregular migration and the movement of people and goods between the two countries. She noted that the two agreements include a legislative framework that will enable the two countries to work in a coordinated manner to combat irregular migration, a phenomenon that affects all neighboring countries.

She added that the two agreements will enable citizens of both countries to move freely and will regularly contribute to economic development while respecting the laws and legislative texts of Mauritania and Senegal.

She praised the efforts of the security authorities in both countries to organize the movement of citizens in both directions and to ensure that everything takes place in the interests of both countries, according to the directives of their leaders, H.E. President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani and H.E. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
