Prime Minister stresses during his visit to the Workshops of the Emergency Program for the Development of Nouakchott the Need to complete its Work within the Specified Deadlines

The Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Diay stressed the need to expedite the implementation of the components of the Nouakchott emergency programme, which was launched on January 20th by the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
This came during a field visit he made on Saturday to some of the facilities being implemented within the framework of this program, starting at the health center in Sokojim in the province of Ksar in the western province of Nouakchott, and concluding with the road section linking the road junction known locally as “Carrefour Brad” and the Sabah Hotel.
The Prime Minister urged those in charge of implementing these projects to expedite the work to be completed collectively within the specified deadlines, noting that His Excellency the President of the Republic obligated the government to follow up on these projects until they are delivered on time.
The Prime Minister explained in a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency that the visit included dozens of workshops and three components of the emergency program for the city of Nouakchott, which was prepared on the instructions of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, in fulfillment of his commitments to the Mauritanian people.
Immediately after her appointment, in parallel with the development programmes it is expected to work on to jumpstart the economy and build a large infrastructure in the field of roads, bridges, water and electricity, the government was obliged to pay urgent attention to development programmes in all provinces to solve the problems pressing Mauritanian citizens, he said.
He added that in this context, His Excellency the President of the Republic gave instructions a week after the formation of the government that a model program targeting the city of Nouakchott be implemented to meet all the necessary needs of citizens, stressing that this program, which was prepared in a participatory manner, aims to provide the citizen’s priorities in important areas such as health, education, water, electricity, breaking isolation, roads, sports infrastructure, environment and afforestation.
These areas were identified by representatives of the population of Nouakchott and the local administration, and the programme was prepared, approved and implemented, he said.
He explained that this important program, which was implemented under the high instructions of His Excellency the President of the Republic in accordance with his commitments in his electoral program “My Ambition for the Nation”, has mobilized the necessary resources for its implementation by allocating more than 57 billion old ounces for its implementation.
He added that His Excellency the President of the Republic gave strict instructions in four specific areas, the first of which is that the program be implemented within 16 months, and that this is done in accordance with what is specified in the books of commitments, and that it is implemented in a transparent manner through tenders free of any interference, and that the implementation work is followed up on the field.
The Prime Minister said that His Excellency the President of the Republic directed during the past days these field visits, highlighting that the program contains today more than 280 open workshops in the capital, Nouakchott, and there are still about 100 workshops that will be launched in the coming days.
He pointed out that his visit today included the components of education, health and roads, pointing out that the education component has about 180 open workshops, of which 74 are being implemented, and the rest are mostly related to rehabilitation, which is difficult to carry out during the study period. As for the health component, it includes 28 health centers that are fully operational, and the road component contains 136 km distributed over about 42 road sections, of which work is currently underway in 17 sections.
His Excellency the Prime Minister said that the progress of work in the various components of these three components is witnessing a significant improvement compared to the last visit, stressing the need to adhere to the deadlines set for the implementation of the various components of this program.
He stressed that the program is being implemented according to the specified time period, although it is exceptional, and that the companies supervising the implementation have the ability and will to adhere to those deadlines.
He pointed out that the problems posed to those in charge of implementing the program, do not include the usual problems, as no complaint was registered from a tender, there is no delay in paying financial installments, and there is no complaint of any kind of disability on the part of the administration.
During the visit, HE the Prime Minister was accompanied by HE the Minister in charge of the General Secretariat of the Government, HE the Minister of Housing, Urbanism and Territorial Reclamation, HE the Minister of Equipment and Transport, HE the General Delegate for National Solidarity and Combating Exclusion “t‘azur“, the Director of the Prime Minister‘s Office, the governors of the three wilayas of Nouakchott, the governors of their provinces and mayors of their municipalities, and a number of Prime Ministry executives.
