President of the Republic receives the Credentials of the new Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received, on Thursday at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, the credentials of His Excellency Mr. El Hadj Makt Sy, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Full Power of Senegal to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

After the ceremony of handing over the credentials, the President of the Republic singled out the Senegalese diplomat for a reception attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug

Following the meeting, the Senegalese ambassador made a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency (MNA) in which he said that he had just been honored to present his credentials to His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani..

He added that the President of Senegal, Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, told him I am sending you to your country and asked him to convey the greetings of brotherhood and friendship to his brother and friend, HE President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

He recalled that Senegal and Mauritania were two States and one people, two brotherly States and friendly countries.

He stressed that the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, asked him to convey the greetings of brotherhood and friendship to his younger brother and friend President Bacssrou Diomaye Diákhar Faye. He also asked him to work with the Mauritanian ambassador in Dakar to strengthen, consolidate and deepen the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries so that the two countries continue on the same path of longstanding relations between the two peoples in the cultural, economic and historical fields.

As ambassadors, my colleague and I will act along these lines, on the instructions of our higher authorities.

The ceremony of handing over the credentials took place in the presence of  the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug and Mr. Mohamed Hanachi El –Kettab, Ambassador and Director General of Bilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He also attended, along with the Senegalese Ambassador, HE Colonel Ousmane Sarr.
