Minister of Foreign Affairs hands over a Message from President of the Republic to his Gambian Counterpart

HE Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad Mohamed Salem Ould Marzoug delivered on Tuesday a message from H.E. President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani to H.E. Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of Gambia.

In a press statement following the meeting, which took place at the Presidential Palace in Banjul, the Minister conveyed the greetings of H.E. The issue of irregular migration, which is a concern for Mauritania due to its geographical location on the Atlantic Ocean, which puts it in the path of migrants, and the various concerns to avoid the resulting issues, he said.

He added that the meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm Mauritania’s commitment to work in a way that harmonizes between securing borders and respecting the rights of migrants, stressing that irregular migration is not an issue for Mauritania alone but a global issue.

He said he noted the convergence of views on all issues discussed, emphasizing the commitment of the two countries’ presidents to strengthen cooperation for the common interests of their peoples.

The meeting took place in the presence of Mauritania’s Ambassador to the Gambia, Mr. Hamoud Ould Abdi, and the Director of Communication and Information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Eldouh.
