President of the Republic receives a high-level Government Delegation from the Republic of Mali

The President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received, on Thursday at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, a high-level government delegation from the sisterly Republic of Mali, headed by His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdoulaye Diob, and the membership of the Minister of Finance Residing Abroad, Moussa Ag Taher, and the Minister Director General of the National Agency for State Security, General Modibo Kony.
Shortly after the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mali made a statement in which he said that he was honored to be received by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who handed him a message from His Excellency President Assimi Goïta, President of the Transition and Head of State of Mali.
He explained that the letter mainly includes the will of the President of the transitional period in Mali, to work with his brother, His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, in order to preserve the long-standing relations of friendship and brotherhood between Mauritania and Mali.
The letter also thanked the Malian president and appreciated the president’s positions on Mauritania’s commitment to preserving Mali’s unity and territorial integrity, he added.
He pointed out that it dealt with the issue of the Malian community in Mauritania and worked to preserve the interests of Mauritanian citizens in Mali and vice versa.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that Mauritania, as a sovereign state, has the right to take all necessary measures to ensure its security and the protection of its citizens, adding that he has received assurances from the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to welcome Malians to Mauritania and to obtain the necessary facilities to regularize their status.
He called on his country’s community to take the necessary steps so that they can obtain residency cards and comply with Mauritanian laws.
The meeting was attended by Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nani Ould Shrougha, H.E. Minister of Justice Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Cheikh Abdallahi Ould Boye, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Director General of National Security, Lieutenant General Mohamed Cheikh Mohamed Lemine Elemin, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Daman Ould Hammer, and HE Ambassador of our country accredited to Mali, Mr. Cheikhna Ould Nani
