Nouakchott
The performance hall of the Moroccan Cultural Centre hosted on Wednesday evening a ceremony to announce the results of a competition for memorizing and reciting the Holy Quran organized by the center on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
A total of 80 contestants participated in the competition before interviews with the jury resulted in the selection of 10 contestants who won the first place.
In his speech on the occasion, the Director of the Moroccan Cultural Center, Mr. Hassan Zoheiri, said that the organization of this competition comes within the framework of the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh EL Ghazouani, and His Majesty King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco, aimed at taking care of the Book of God and its people, encouraging young people to turn to memorizing and reciting the Holy Quran, and linking them to their religious constants in order to immunize them from deviations and extremist currents.
He thanked the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Nouakchott for sponsoring and accompanying this blessed religious event, as well as the local authorities in Nouakchott, especially the port district authorities, for their cooperation with the Centre to facilitate its tasks and activities.
