Minister of Culture: The President of the Republic directed to provide a Personal gift of 10 million old Ouguiyas to the Families of the late Journalists
Nouakchott
The Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, El Houssein Ould Medou, announced that His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, has directed to donate a personal gift in his name in the amount of 10 million old Ouguiyas, as a contribution to the “Reach Out of Goodness” campaign to support the families of the late journalists.
This came during his supervision last night of the opening of a seminar organized by the Mauritanian Journalists Syndicate at its headquarters, as part of the fourth edition of the annual program “Reach Out of Goodness” to support the families of late journalists, under the title “They ask you what they spend, say what you have spent of good, for parents, relatives, orphans, the needy, the son of the way, and what good you do, God knows it.”
The Minister of Culture considered that the “Hands of Goodness” campaign is a good year for which the media body falls apart to keep up, support and help the families of the late journalists, highlighting their role in establishing the media scene.
He thanked all those in charge of this blessed initiative, which, as in previous times, comes down in a special time context and a blessed Ramadan atmosphere, thanking those who enacted it in the beginning and those who accompanied it and supported these noble efforts to perpetuate and sustain the step of “Reach Out of Good”.
He said that the participation of media professionals is not valued by its size, but by its symbolism, explaining that every participation of a media person in supporting the media body for the benefit of the families of the late journalists carries symbolism and connotations, which makes it go beyond its pure material dimension to enter within the circle of great positives and optimal advantages of supporting the press body and the synergy of its colleagues among themselves.
For his part, the head of the Mauritanian Journalists Syndicate, Ahmed Taleb Ould Maaloum, said that the Journalists Syndicate organizes this event annually, stressing that this charitable work of providing cash is considered a purely social act to bring joy to the children of departed journalists.
He thanked all those who contributed from near or far to this important charitable work, praising the role played by the Ministry of Culture in order to make this event a success.
The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, a number of ambassadors, mission holders, advisors in the culture sector, and a group of those interested in media and cultural affairs.
