President Iftar with Officers, Non-commissioned Officers and Soldiers at the Military Base in Lemreiya, Adrar
Atar
As part of his keenness to follow up on the conditions of the National Armed Forces, HE President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani paid an inspection visit on Friday (14 Ramadan 1446 AH, corresponding to March 14, 2025) to the military base in Lemreiya, Adrar Province, where he shared iftar with officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers.
His Excellency the President of the Republic performed the Maghrib and Isha prayers with members of the armed forces at this military base. He also attended a Ramadan lecture presented by Mr. Ahmed Ould El Nini, Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, entitled “Security is a lifeline”, which focused on three themes: The blessing and status of security; the defense of the homeland; and the rewards of Rabat for the sake of Allah.
With this step, His Excellency continues a tradition he inaugurated in Ramadan 2023, the first of its kind in the country’s history.
HE the President of the Republic was welcomed upon arrival at the military base in Meriya by Minister of Defense, Affairs of Retired Persons and Children of Martyrs, Hananna Ould Sidi, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Mohamed Fall Ould Rais, and the Commander of the Third Military Region, where HE the President of the Republic reviewed a detachment of the National Army that saluted him.
His Excellency the President of the Republic’s keenness to break the Ramadan fast in this remote part of the national territory, about 1,200 km from the capital Nouakchott, in the Mauritanian way and in a family session with our soldiers stationed to protect the country, reflects a strong message of solidarity with the defenders of the borders in the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month of Ramadan, in recognition of their diligence in defending national sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the country and their precious efforts to protect the security of the country and its citizens with their arms and chests against any threat.
This Ramadan visit was a source of pride for our brave soldiers of all ranks, and boosted their morale after the President of the Republic sat with them on the same bed and the same table, shared dates, tea and milk with them, before taking a group photo with them.
H.E. President of the Republic Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included: Minister Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Moulaye Ould Mohamed Laghdhaf, Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nani Ould Shrougha, Mr. Ahmed Ould El Nini, Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, Chief of Air Staff, Major General Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ould Bida alias “Hamada”, Chief of Special Staff of the President of the Republic, Major General Brahim Fall El Chibani Cheikh Ahmed, and Director General of State Honors, Mr. Hassan Ould Ahmed
