Mauritania participates in the Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC

Jeddah

The 20th extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states kicked off on Friday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and plans to displace them and annex their land.

An important delegation from our country is participating in the session, headed by the Ambassador Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Daman Hamer.

During his participation in the session, Mr. Secretary-General said that the forced displacement of the Palestinian people constitutes a real setback to the international system, undermining the rules and laws on which it is based, and a dangerous trend to return humanity to the law of the jungle

He pointed out that such trends only increase the fragility and instability of the international system, which is already exhausted by the successive effects of the political, economic, social, security, health and environmental crises, especially since they come at a time when we need this system to regain its effectiveness and strength, after more than fifteen months of a horrific genocidal war against the unarmed Palestinian people, which turned the Gaza Strip into a theater of death that does not spare children, old people, women, patients in their beds, doctors in their hospitals, and ambulance workers.

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania declares its absolute rejection of the issue of the displacement of the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, and of all statements or insinuations in this regard, as they are based on a premeditated intention to establish a foreign settlement on the land of innocent Palestine and a clear agenda aimed at undermining the national security and territorial integrity of many brotherly countries.

He reiterated our country’s firm position on the Palestinian issue, which is to support the two-state solution, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, which guarantees the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, declaring our country’s complete rejection of any solution that violates these resolutions or compromises the rights of the Palestinians, which cannot be compromised or disposed of.

He called for the adoption of firm and decisive decisions to confront the absurd and racist expulsion schemes, and to stand against any action that seeks to break the Palestinians’ connection to their land in any way, or to change the identity of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

Mauritania welcomes the return of the Syrian Arab Republic to the space of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, where it should always be, a return that will have a great impact on the integration of our Islamic work.

Besides the Secretary General, the meeting was attended by our Ambassador in Riyadh, Mr. Mokhtar Dahi, the Ambassador Director of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Sheikh Sayed Ahmed Mohamed Elsalek, the Ambassador Director of Communication and Information, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed El Doh, and Mr. Ahmed Aminouh, Head of Service at the Department of Honors.
