On 20 February, in Nouakchott, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received Mr. Fernando Clavijo, the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, in the presence of an important delegation from his country, including H.E. Ms. Maria Alvarez De la Rosa, the Spanish Ambassador in Nouakchott, the Deputy Advisor to the President of the Canary Islands, Octavio Acraballo, the Director General of Africa, Louie Padilla, and the Director of Protocol, Jose Manel Rivero.
During the meeting, His Excellency and his host reviewed the historic ties between the Mauritanian and Spanish peoples, while examining the cooperative relations between the two friendly countries and ways of strengthening and developing them.
