On the Sidelines of the Mission 300 Program Summit in Tanzania Mauritania presents its Program and Vision for Energy Projects

Mauritania presented on Monday, within the framework of the ministerial segment of the “Mission 300” summit on energy in Africa in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, its program and vision for the programmed electric power projects, and presented a plan to mobilize the necessary resources to finance the projects, which include new power plants, transmission and distribution lines, and rural electrification.

The Minister of Economy and Finance Mr. Sid’ Ahmed Ould Bouh and the Minister of Energy and Petroleum Mr. Mohamed Ould Khaled gave detailed presentations on the plan in the presence of World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, African Development Bank Group President Adesina Akinyomi and representatives of several financing institutions and the international private sector active in financing electricity projects.

Through this event, the country aims to mobilize US$2.4 billion to increase access to electricity services from 50% to 100%.

Under this fundraising plan, production costs of $1.2 billion will be mobilized through private sector contributions.

It is noteworthy that the M300 summit will kick off tomorrow at the level of presidents in the presence of H.E. President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, several heads of state of the continent and heads of international and regional financial institutions.

The Mission 300 summit aims to provide 300 million Africans with access to electricity by 2030.
