Stakeholders of Ahmim Gas Project meet in Dakar

On Tuesday in Dakar, the Senegalese capital, the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr. Mohamed Ould Khaled, held talks with his Senegalese counterpart, Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, Mr. Birama Sully Guiob, on the Greater Turtle Ahmim gas project (GTA), and meetings with BP and Cosmos Energy on the subject.

During the reception of the Minister Mohamed Ould Khaled by Senegalese President Bassiro Diomaye Faye, the Mauritanian and Senegalese sides affirmed their identical views on all aspects related to the project and their keenness to unite efforts to maximize its revenues for the two countries.

On the same occasion, Gordon Birrel, Executive Vice President of Production and Operations, stated that he had the honor of meeting with H.E. President Mohamed Ould El Cheikh Ghazouani on Monday, January 20, and with H.E. the President of Senegal the following day, and that the two Presidents congratulated them on the successful opening of the first well of the project.

These meetings, which took place in Nouakchott and Dakar and included the parties involved in the project, come after the announcement of the start of gas production and the imminent start of exports.

In the coming weeks, other wells from the project will continue to be opened, with the aim of reaching full production capacity soon.
