Minister of Environment Meets with the French Ambassador

The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Marieme Bekaye, met on Monday in Nouakchott with HE. Robert Moullié, Ambassador of France, accredited in Mauritania, accompanied by Mr. Pierre Yves Bertrand, Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Action at the Embassy of France in Nouakchott and Ms. Bénédicte Brusset, Director of the French Development Agency (AFD- Mauritania).
The meeting focused on the different aspects of bilateral cooperation between Mauritania and France in the field of the environment and sustainable development, and more particularly on the support for the initiative of the Accelerator of the Great Green Wall for the Sahel and the Sahara, the announcement of which was made at the One Planet summit for biodiversity, organized jointly by France, the United Nations and the World Bank and at which the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani was the guest of honor in Paris in January 2021.
During this meeting, the Mauritanian and French parties also discussed issues relating to the provision of technical assistance for the benefit of the Department of the Environment and Sustainable Development.
The talks took place in the presence of the Legal Advisor of the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Mr. Ahmed Ould Zein, the Director in charge of Climate and Green Economy at Ministry, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Ould El Wavi and the Director of the National Agency of the Great Green Wall-establishment under the Ministry supervision, Mr. Hussein Legraa.
