Prime Minister and his Senegalese Counterpart visit SNIM and the Marine Products Upgrading Plant

On Tuesday, H E Prime Minister Mr. El Moctar Ould Djay and his Senegalese counterpart H.E. Mr. Ousman Sonko toured several facilities of the National Company for Industry and Mines (SNIM) and the Seafood Products Promotion Company (Seafood 3) factory in Nouadhibou.

During the first leg of the visit, the Prime Minister and his Senegalese counterpart toured the various corridors and departments of the National Company for Industry “SNIM”.

The tour started from inside the city and the maintenance and repair workshops for train cars, where they received technical explanations provided by the Director of Studies at the company, Mr. El Hadi Ould Ely Ibrahim, Acting Director General of “SNIM”.

At the company’s metallurgical port, the Prime Minister and his Senegalese guest were briefed on the stages of exporting iron ore.

The second leg of the delegation’s tour of the economic capital was a visit to 3M SEAFOOD, where they toured the company’s various processing and production units and the stages of the sardine processing and canning process.

The Prime Minister and his Senegalese counterpart received technical explanations provided by the plant’s managers, during which they explained that this national company was planned and implemented by national hands and funded by Abbas Holding Group, with the aim of providing canned fish (sardines) in the national markets, which contributed to creating added value to enhance the value of national fisheries revenues.

It should be noted that this factory provides between 200 and 300 jobs, and aims mainly to produce and market canned sardines from high-quality raw materials caught in Mauritanian waters, frozen pelagic fish, frozen octopus, and deep-sea fish when available.
