In Final Communique, President of Republic Assured Chairman of Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan of Mauritania’s Readiness to Support Sudan in Overcoming Current Crisis
At the conclusion of the visit by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, on January 13 and 14, 2025, to our country, a joint statement was issued. Here is the text:
“Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, visited the Islamic Republic of Mauritania on January 13 and 14, 2025, at the head of a significant Sudanese delegation. He was received by His Excellency the President of the Republic, the Chairman of the African Union, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
This visit falls within the framework of the strong fraternal relations that unite our country with the Republic of Sudan, reinforced by the common historical and cultural ties between the two brotherly peoples.
His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, held talks with Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, to discuss bilateral relations and current developments in the brotherly Republic of Sudan.
His Excellency the President expressed his great concern to his Sudanese guest about the developments of the Sudanese crisis, with its security, political, social, and humanitarian dimensions, and the danger of its continuation for Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity. He also expressed his deep concern about the humanitarian conditions faced by the brotherly Sudanese people, emphasizing the need for an urgent and comprehensive response to ensure that aid reaches all affected areas without obstacles and to develop practical plans for the reconstruction and revitalization of the Sudanese economy.
His Excellency the President assured the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan of Mauritania’s full readiness to support Sudan in overcoming its current crisis and to do everything that the Sudanese brothers deem necessary in this regard.”
