Brazil
Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, H.E. Mr. El Houcine Ould Medou participated on Friday, representing the Chairmanship of the African Union, in the G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting, which kicked off in Salvador, Brazil.
The meeting was opened by Brazilian Minister of Culture Margaritia Manises, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the G20.
The ministerial meeting is being held under the theme “Culture and Climate Change”, in the presence of G20 culture ministers and the heads of a number of international organizations.
In his speech on the occasion, the Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, H.E. Mr. Al Hussein Ould Medou, stressed the utmost importance attached by the President of the Republic, President of the African Union, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, to the dual values of global and climate justice by advocating for the issues of the African continent and striving to enable its representation at the global level, whether in the G20 or in UN bodies; as well as carrying the climate concerns of the continent to various world forums and calling for the protection of African heritage in light of climate and security challenges as in the BRICS, United Nations and Paris conferences, among others.
The Minister welcomed the securing of permanent representation of the AU in the G20
He considered that the world today is an unjust world, unjust to the groups that include it, and unjust to the land that carries it, and this is what prompted the rotating president of the African Union to carry the concerns of the African continent and work for more representation in fairness to its status and more attention to its heritage in recognition of its authenticity and awareness of the magnitude of the challenges faced by African heritage, whose protection will only be the preservation of all human heritage.
