The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Mauritania organized, on Tuesday evening in Nouakchott, a reception on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of Turkey.
The government was represented at the ceremony by Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Lamat, Presidential Counsellor, and Advisor to the Prime Minister in charge of Political Affairs, Hind Mint Ainina.
In a speech delivered on the occasion, HE Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Mauritania Burhan Koroglu stressed that the historical fraternal relations between Mauritania and Turkey date back to ancient times, and that anyone who contemplates the history of the two peoples will find similarities to the extent of congruence in many scientific and cultural visions between the two countries.
He explained that the cultural, political and economic relations between Turkey and Mauritania are currently witnessing increasing growth, and are a vivid example of the long-standing friendship between the two countries, pointing out that Mauritanian students receive their education in Turkey and contribute after their graduation to strengthening relations between the two countries; businessmen also strengthen their relations in the fields of trade, infrastructure, mining and fisheries.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Mohamed Al-Hanashi Al-Kettab, Ambassador, Director General of the Directorate of Bilateral Cooperation, Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Douwa, Director of Communication and Media, and Mr. Mohamed Bab Ala Mahmoud, Ambassador of Protocol at the same Ministry.
