Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development receives a Delegation From the IMF

The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Messaouda Mint Baham Ould Mohamed Laghdaf, received on Tuesday afternoon at her office in Nouakchott a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headed by Mr. Felix Fischer, Head of Mission of the Fund to our country.

This meeting is part of the second review of the Resilience and Sustainability Fund Facility Program granted by the International Monetary Fund to our country in December 2023 to address the effects of climate change.

During the meeting, they discussed the program improvements made by the government to strengthen resilience against the effects of climate change and improve the sustainable management of natural resources.

The meeting recorded the work of the environment and sustainable development sector in the field of preserving the environment and promoting sustainable development as the priorities of the “Toumouhi for the Country” program of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, which is spearheaded by the fight against changes and energy transformation for a low-carbon strategy.

The meeting was attended by the assistant director of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, Mr. Ahmed Ould Zein, and the ministry’s representative in the national technical committee in charge of following up the file with the International Monetary Fund.
