On 2 and 3 October, Ms. Messouda Baham Mohamed Laghdaf, the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, represented Mauritania at the 10th Summit of the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO) in Dubai.
On this occasion, the Minister took part in a high-level ministerial round table, where she shared Mauritania’s experience in mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting the green economy.
In her speech, Ms. Messouda Baham Mohamed Laghdaf highlighted Mauritania’s vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, including desertification and rising sea levels. She highlighted the country’s decarbonization initiatives, such as developing renewable energy infrastructure, including solar power plants and green hydrogen, as part of the energy transition.
