OIC Executive Committee condemns Continued Israeli War Crimes and Aggression

Jeddah

The Extraordinary Open-ended Meeting of the Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States condemned the continued war crimes, aggression and genocide committed by the Israel, the illegal occupying power, in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

This came in the final statement issued by the meeting, which was held on Wednesday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization in Jeddah, in the presence of the heads of delegations of members of the Executive Committee and member states of the Organization, to discuss the ongoing crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and its aggression against the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran

The meeting called for an immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression and the policy of abuse, starvation and collective punishment practiced against the Palestinian people, stressing its categorical rejection and confronting by all means any attempt to displace, expel or forcibly transfer the Palestinian people from their land.

The meeting strongly condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, former Palestinian Prime Minister, while he was in the Iranian capital, Tehran, holding Israel fully responsible for this heinous attack, which constitutes a crime of aggression and a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations and a serious attack on the sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The meeting warned that the continuation of Israel crimes undermines security and stability in the region, calling for the immediate and effective intervention of the UN Security Council within the framework of its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.

The meeting of the Executive Committee reaffirmed the central nature of the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif for the entire Islamic Ummah, and the need to preserve the Arabic and Islamic identity of the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and the Palestinian sovereignty over it as an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967 and the capital of the State of Palestine.

He warned of the escalation of Israeli colonial settlement, the threat of annexation of the occupied Palestinian territory and the daily attacks and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation army and terrorist settler militias in the West Bank, including the occupied city of Jerusalem, against unarmed Palestinian citizens, their property, land and holy sites, with the aim of forcibly displacing them.

In this regard, the Executive Committee affirmed the legal opinion on the illegality of settlement in the Palestinian territory and the need to end the occupation, dismantle all settlements and evacuate all settlers, calling for the need to take the necessary steps to hold settlers accountable for their crimes, including the imposition of penalties on them, placing them on terrorist lists, and prosecuting them.

The meeting expressed its deep concern over the continuation and intensification of Israel of its brutal crimes and unprecedented violations against thousands of Palestinian prisoners through the practice of executions, torture, starvation, rape, isolation and enforced disappearances, especially against detainees from the Gaza Strip, which led to the martyrdom of dozens of them.

The meeting urged the international community, including the Security Council, to act immediately to stop this escalation through effective steps that would oblige the Israel to stop its attacks on the Palestinian people and its violations of international law and international humanitarian law, and not to take any provocative steps in Al-Quds Al-Sharif that would prejudice the feelings of two billion Muslims around the world and threaten security and stability in the region, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over Jerusalem and holy sites, and that East Jerusalem is occupied Palestinian territory.

He stressed the importance of continuing the efforts undertaken by the Arab-Islamic Joint Ministerial Group, chaired by Saudi Arabia, in the international arena with the aim of stopping the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, following up the implementation of the legal opinion of the International Court of Justice on the illegality of the Israeli occupation, mobilizing greater recognition of the State of Palestine and its full membership in the United Nations, convening an international peace conference and implementing the two-state solution, thus ending the Israeli occupation and leading to the independence of the State of Palestine on the borders June of 4 June 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital. Sharif, on the basis of relevant United Nations resolutions.
