The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mr. Abdesselam Ould Mohamed Saleh, participated on Tuesday in Berlin in the work of the Fifth General Assembly of the Sahel Alliance, in the presence of 150 representatives of more than 30 countries and international organizations.
In a speech on the occasion, the minister reminded participants that the Sahel region continues to face complex and multiple challenges affecting peace, security and development.
He also stressed the importance of continued international commitment and support to help the people of the region to ensure food security and strengthen resilience in the face of climate change and the refugee crisis.
At the end of the association, a press release was distributed in which the Sahel Alliance stressed that “despite the complexity of the situation, the members express their will to continue their long-term commitment to the population of the Sahel countries, especially the youth.”
The statement also included a reminder that the members of the Alliance financed development projects in the region in the amount of 23 billion euros between 2017 and 2022, and these projects included education, employment and youth as sectors that occupy a priority in intervention.
