President of Republic Receives Congratulatory Message From Spanish Government President

On 3 July, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, President-elect received a message of congratulations from Mr. Pedro Sanchez, the President of the Government of Spain, on the occasion of his re-election to the country’s supreme office.

This message reads as follows:

“Mister President,

 I would like to congratulate you on your re-election as president of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, as well as on the smooth running of the vote. Mauritania is a neighboring country, partner and friend of Spain, and a key ally in the region, both in the Maghreb and the Sahel. Our bilateral relationship is strategic in areas such as security, defense, border control, and migratory flows or fishing. As was noted during my recent visit to Mauritania last February, of which I have excellent memories, the ties that unite our countries and our cooperation continue to strengthen and intensify.

As I have already told you, you can count on our firm commitment to Mauritania, both bilaterally and within the EU.

Wishing you the greatest possible success, I reiterate my collaboration and support, as well as that of my Government for your future term.
