2024 Presidential Elections: Candidate Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani Presents Electoral Program Main Points to Population of Dakhlet-Nouadhibou
Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the candidate for the 2024 presidential elections, indicated that the portfolio of investments directed to the Wilaya of Dakhlet-Nouadhibou over the last five years amounted to MRO 150 billion, which made it possible to resolve the water issue through the drilling of wells and the extension of the seawater desalination station, the rehabilitation and extension of the water network in Nouadhibou, the construction of a wind power plant in Boulenwar, and the extension of the electricity network in Nouadhibou. He stressed that the wilaya currently produces enough electrical energy to meet its needs.
The candidate, who was speaking during an electoral meeting organized by his campaign on 25 June in Nouadhibou, added that the achievements in the wilaya included the completion of the construction of the Benichab-Nouadhibou road, the construction of 30 km of urban roads in Nouadhibou, the rehabilitation of the city airport runway, the Nouadhibou-Nouakchott road, the modernization of the Baie du Repos port, the construction of an analysis and inspection laboratory, the construction of a quay for coast guard vessels, the construction and equipment of a fish cannery.
As part of the achievements, he also highlighted the granting of health insurance to 3,406 people, cash transfers to as many families (4,005), and the launch of construction work on 378 social housing units in Nouadhibou.
He is committed to transforming Nouadhibou into a modern city, doubling the work accomplished in the field of social action, improving education and health services, definitively eliminating water and electricity problems, supporting the youth of the wilaya in the fields of education, culture, and sports, resolving the problems of workers and improving their living conditions, paying particular attention to the fishing sector so that it fully plays its development role, and providing the appropriate conditions to improve the performance of the free zone so that it becomes an attractive institution for the workers of the wilaya.
Candidate Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani declared that he would work to achieve a profound transformation of development, at all levels, through the implementation of an ambitious and realistic program, which will strengthen social interventions in favor of the most vulnerable in society.
He cited, in this regard, health insurance, access to basic services such as water, electricity, education, and health, the continued implementation of the republican school project, improving the material and moral conditions of educational personnel, and reforming the administration to bring it closer to the citizen.
He reaffirmed his firm desire to firmly oppose mismanagement and corruption and empower young people while mobilizing the necessary resources for their training, integration, and promotion.
Candidate Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani also promised to reform the retirement system and adopt targeted economic dynamism.
He stressed that all efforts will be devoted to strengthening the security and stability of the country so that our citizens can enjoy a decent life, noting that last night’s attack by individuals on an electoral rally is unacceptable and contrary to the law.
He stressed that the electoral campaign, from its beginning until today, took place in an atmosphere of positive competition and mutual respect, an approach that must be continued and preserved, noting that he gave his campaign team recommendations to adhere to the rules of a clean campaign, in speech and practice, which was fortunately respected, he said.
He called on all candidates to maintain this positive atmosphere to hold transparent and fair elections where Mauritanians express their choices and where everyone accepts the verdict of the ballot boxes.
Candidate Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazwani called on the inhabitants of Dakhlet-Nouadhibou to vote for him during the presidential elections, the first round of which will take place on 29 June, to consolidate the gains and launch new development projects, which will take our country through important steps on the path to development and growth.
