Workshop on “Freedom of Opinion and Expression… and the Prohibition of hatred speech” in Favor of Political Parties

The National Human Rights Commission organized, Wednesday morning in Nouakchott, an awareness-raising workshop on the topics: “Freedom of opinion and expression and prevention… hatred speech” in favor of a number of party representatives and political parties.
In a speech on the occasion, the Secretary-General of the National Human Rights Committee, Mr. Mohamed Ould Ibrahim, said that political participation is a basic human right guaranteed by international constitutions and covenants, noting that this workshop falls within the framework of implementing the strategy of the National Committee aimed at protecting and promoting human rights.
He explained that political parties play an important role in the field of consolidating and strengthening the democratic experience, adding that the concerted efforts of all in this context would create a conscious and civilized civil society in an environment of justice, equality and good governance.
He pointed out that the National Human Rights Committee hopes that by organizing such workshops, positive results will be achieved leading to transparent and fair elections that all political parties can be assured of.
