From 29 to 31 May, a delegation from the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Innovation and Modernization of Governance, headed by Secretary General Mr. Ali Silly Soumare, participated in the second edition of GITEX Africa 2024, organized in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco.
Mauritania’s participation in GITEX Africa, Africa’s largest technology and startup event, was an opportunity for the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Innovation and Modernization of Management to highlight Mauritanian startups to a wide international audience that participated in the exhibition, and to meet potential investors and partners.
On the sidelines of this international event, the Secretary-General of the Ministry participated in a high-level discussion on “Governance for Africa Managed by Data”. The session addressed the need for coherent policies aimed at bridging the digital divide, facilitating inclusive connectivity, and providing Africa with the means to take advantage of opportunities through advanced data technology, with the aim of achieving pivotal social and economic progress.
The delegation held a series of important meetings and meetings involving government missions, international organizations, as well as actors and investors in various technological fields.
On the sidelines of GITEX Africa, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Innovation and Modernization of Administration dedicated a pavilion to Mauritania to present the digital agenda and the measures taken by the system to develop the digital economy in the presence of representatives from the Central Bank, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, the State Digital Agency, the Center for Remote Training and Exchange, the Investment Promotion Agency, the Federation of Services, Incubators, Technology Companies and Startups. Participants shared their visions, programmes and experiences, and explored ways to enhance cooperation and develop technological innovations for economic development.
